Andrew Wallenstein
Andrew Wallenstein is President and Chief Media Analyst of Variety Intelligence Platform, a market-research division at Luminate, the premier data and insights provider for the entertainment industry. From 2011-2024, Wallenstein worked at Variety, including five years as Co-Editor-in-Chief,where he launched the leading entertainment-news brand’s weekly magazine and powered the Variety.com website to record Internet traffic. In 2020, he founded the subscription venture Variety Intelligence Platform, which was acquired by Luminate in 2025. Wallenstein is also an adjunct professor at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications, where he teaches the “Hollywood: Navigating the Future” course. He previously taught journalism and media courses at Queens College, Hunter College and Columbia College Chicago. He was an on-air contributor for NPR's nationally syndicated show All Things Considered for nearly a decade and also hosted the PBS series "Variety Studio: Actors on Actors" and TV Guide Channel's "Square Off," a weekly primetime series about the TV industry. Wallenstein has a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University. He received the Luminary Award for Career Achievement from the Los Angeles Press Club in 2017.
